The LP TechShield® roof sheathing system used here blocks up to 97% of the radiant heat in the panel from entering the attic, which keeps the home cooler. This one step in energy efficient building can cut up to 17% in monthly utility costs.
Additionally, this new home is using the green ZIP System® wall sheathing which combines the strength and stability of a high-performing panel with the enhanced weatherability provided by the product's water-resistive barrier.
The windows and entry systems are from the Pella ProLine® series, featuring low-maintenance and Low-E insulating glass which meets ENERGY STAR® requirements for all 50 states.
A home with a properly designed HVAC system is not only more comfortable but more energy efficient. Southern Energy Management performed the critical task of sizing the HVAC equipment using the latest technology applications. Upon their recommendation a 2 1/2-ton 13 seer Trane split heat pump system was installed for upstairs comfort and a 3-ton 13 seer Trane system to serve the downstairs.
This home is insulated by the Cocoon blown system, allowing much better coverage in tight, hard-to-reach spaces. Cocoon Insulation is a cellulose material derived from 85% recycled paper products. It is non-toxic and offers up to 26% better performance than other insulating materials with the same R-value.
A Moisture Control System has been installed in the unconditioned enclosed crawl space of this home, providing a tighter building envelope. The system includes an exhaust fan as well as a dehumidifier, and the entire space is lined with a moisture protective vapor barrier.
Equipped with Rinnai tankless water heaters, these homeowners will never be limited to a fixed pre-heated supply as with a tank. They will enjoy hot water when they want it, for as long as they need it. With Rinnai tankless water heaters, they will enjoy up to 40% energy savings.
